Mold May Force Pensacola Federal Court to Relocate

Mold can cause serious health issues for some people, including respiratory and sinus problems. That’s why it’s so important to eliminate mold growth in homes and commercial buildings. When mold is removed, those who live or work in the affected building usually have to go elsewhere during mold treatment. In Pensacola, Florida, though, workers at the downtown federal courthouse might actually have to stay in the building while it’s being treated.

General Services Administration, which manages the courthouse, has stated that the building will still be in use while black mold is being removed. This decision affects more than 100 employees.

Some mold experts have expressed concern about this, since it could put these workers at risk of experiencing health issues while mold remediation is going on around them. Judges who work at the courthouse are trying to determine whether or not to hold trials in another location temporarily in order to reduce the public’s exposure to mold. If not, they will need to find other ways to lower this risk while trials are going on inside the courthouse. For now, several parts of the building are closed off to try to stop the mold from spreading to other areas.

This case illustrates the problems involved with some kinds of mold treatment methods. Remediation, for example, is a time-consuming process that inconveniences the building’s occupants and raises the risk of exposure as materials that contain mold are pulled out. These methods also do little to stop mold from coming back and requiring another round of treatment.

If your building has a mold problem, don’t hesitate to contact Stern Mold. We offer safe, effective mold treatment that does not disrupt drywall and can be completed typically in one to two days.

Reoccuring Mold Problems Are Very Hard for Homeowners to Treat

If you find mold in your house, don’t be fooled by its seemingly uncomplicated appearance. Without proper mold treatment from the start, chances are good that the problem will reoccur, becoming more stubborn each time.

Experts say that the weather of this past winter may have created optimum conditions for mold growth. With inadequate ventilation resulting from your home being closed up for an extended period, the build-up of moisture from rain, snow and ice results in the perfect breeding ground.

A mold infestation is much more than simply a cosmetic problem. Mold can cause serious health issues ranging from coughing and sneezing to dizziness, headaches and rashes. Consequences can be even more severe for individuals who are already suffering from asthma or other upper respiratory illnesses.

The deceptively simple visual appearance of mold may make it tempting to treat the problem yourself. However, DIY methods are likely to be counterproductive by causing cross-contamination that ends up spreading the infestation rather than resolving it.

A good rule of thumb is to call in professional help if the mold patch is larger than the size of a dinner plate. Mold often develops in hidden or less visible areas, so even if you don’t actually see it, you should have your home inspected if you suspect its presence.

Don’t take chances with your health and that of your family. Our safe and eco-friendly mold treatment removes all traces of infestation while leaving behind a sealant that repels future appearances. Get peace of mind by contacting us today to schedule a free mold inspection.

Renters Find Black Mold in Buffalo, NY Apartments

A Buffalo apartment complex has found itself in housing court following tenant claims of black mold plaguing many of the apartments. The tenants just want their homes cleaned up, while the management of Towne Apartments seems to be ignoring the problem.

While the claims in court cover a variety of apartment maintenance issues, the black mold presents the most immediate danger. At least one tenant says she and her children have become chronically ill with symptoms related to black mold exposure.

Black mold treatment methods can now resolve household mold problems within a single day, but many property managers do not realize the options available. Traditional mold remediation creates an ongoing project that lasts weeks — driving up the expense of housing tenants in the interim — but this situation can be avoided with MoldExterm bio remediation treatments that repair and seal the problem quickly.

Attorneys for the apartment complex in Buffalo have indicated that management will work with the city and housing department to address the problem. Meanwhile, the mold problem has escalated into a situation covered by local investigative reporters.

How apartment complexes can quickly treat black mold

When tenants report black mold, landlords can swiftly correct the problem with modern, scientifically advanced treatment.

MoldExterm treats the root causes of black mold instead of simply cleaning the mold. After an EPA-approved anti-microbial kills the mold, the process seals the surfaces with a special polymer. This last step is crucial because black mold can easily return if the underlying conditions are not corrected.

Don’t let yourself end up in housing court. Call Stern Mold for safe, effective black mold treatment in as little as one day.

Landlord Takes a Black Eye on Mold Problems

Tenant Blames Landlord For Mold Growth

Tenant Blames Landlord For Mold Growth

A Dayton, OH woman blames her landlord for the mysterious health problems that have been plaguing her for the last year. She attributes a mold infestation in her apartment as the cause of her chest and joint pains.

Trouble began in spring 2014 when Linda McCleskey moved into her current apartment and discovered water leaks, a situation she says also occurred in another apartment she rented in the same building. McCleskey reported the damage, but began suffering from unexplained pain.

This past March, McCleskey’s daughter Latricia Newberry was visiting when she dropped an item behind a nightstand. Upon pulling it away from the wall, she discovered an extensive mold infestation. Newberry immediately notified the building manager and drove her mother to the emergency room.

A mold treatment specialist, accompanied by the news crew from a local TV station, visited the apartment with a moisture meter to locate sources of water and identify mold. While he was able to confirm that the substance Newberry discovered was indeed mold, lab testing is required to determine if it is toxic black mold.

In the meantime, McCleskey’s physician at Five Rivers Health Center has recommended that she undergo a lung biopsy. He has also written a letter confirming that she must find a new residence due to the detrimental effect of the mold. McCleskey claims that the landlord is refusing to return her rental deposit.
